The reason why they shook, drooled, and laughed was because when the body looses its skin, the sheer amount of pain causes the face motor skills to fail, leading people to drool, and their bodies to shake due to the pain and the body trying to generate heat after the skin has been removed, same with the laughing, when flaying is paired with severe religious psychosis, it can cause people to laugh, or make a laughing expression when they are about to die.
