It was like any other day, I was- I was walking and stumbled across a nuclear orange puddle, so I ended up reaching out to it. and touched it, only to feel a sharp pain, and for a moment, I can't remember but, I swore I could've seen something, anyways, for instance imagine your nail beds are being drilled. sorry. so after experiencing that, the ground shook, and the puddle bubbled, which wasn't a good sign, subconsciously I put my guard up and protected myself, then. It happened.

The Infection

5 days after the infection, nowhere is safe, in just 5 days everything has fallen, everything but the few remnants of society clinging onto life- “bzzt”

The hum of electricity fills the air, @PlanetAntMan in these 5 days, you haven't seen a noninfected soul, you've casually roamed around, the constant flow of electricity in your veins acting as a deterrent and immunity to the infection. In the distance your eye catches a glimpse of an injured figure shouldering two mechanical arms, in front of him is an infected. There's a mauled body on the floor beside him. The infected grabs him, and slams him repeatedly on the ground.

What do you do?

Out of fear or ignorance (probably the latter) you decide to leave the poor soul to fend for themselves. you walk further, every step you hear grueling sharp screams of pain, repetitive wet thuds, growing ever so silent, so distant, until it stops with a sharp crack. at this point you're far away enough to where you cant see what happened, and that infected didn't seem to notice you.

@PlanetAntMan you've doomed a soul, what now?
