The Animator

Chroma, an unnatural being that was created from Dan's own power, and to his dismay, was stronger than he was.

Not out of pride, but out of fear, Dan locked away his creation in the only place it couldn't escape, Dan's own take on the first dimension, where nothing can come in or leave, with the only exceptions to this rule being White and Dan, who yes, while being weaker than Chroma in power, are multidimensional beings, and can travel through them with no issue.

Dan's first dimension is essentially his own Area 51, nothing in there is meant to be found, and nothing is meant to leave.

Chroma spent 30 years in that place, growing himself as a fighter, and eventually developed the unique ability to enter himself into a persons mind, but he could only access one person at a time. He realized if he was to find a vessel, he needed one that would be one of great potential, one that could free him and that he could teach to defeat White and the great evils that spanned across reality.

He had a couple of candidates, such as @TRAngA, but he seemed more laid back and probably wouldn't go to much trouble to free Chroma. His second choice was @dustbiter as she held the most power, second to Dan of course, but he ruled that out as soon after he scoped her out, she disappeared out of the Animator, and hasn't returned since. Chroma was in disbelief, and was losing hope.

As he continued to search, he found what would become his vessel, Burnincat. He boasted power and a righteous goal to become as strong as he could, but without a goal or reason as to why. Chroma entered into his mind, and conversed with him, surprised with how calmly Cat seemed to be taking the news.

Not long after, Dan heard of this news, and trained Cat himself, in an attempt to take away any chance of Chroma succeeding in his plan, but Chroma held strong, and while Dan trained Cat physically, Chroma trained Cat mentally and emotionally, not being just a teacher, but a true friend.

But to cut it short, Dan realized Chroma had foiled him, and he therefore payed his creation a visit, temporarily stripped him of his powers, and tortured him, making Burnincat watch as he did.

This lasted for 2 days straight, and Dan finally left, giving up on stopping Chromas influence.

Chroma trained for the next 5 years, rarely speaking, and eventually rid himself from Dans control, for good.

so a being who infiltrates minds ultimately gets his mind infiltrated

Main timeline Dan is honestly obsessed with his own power, no reason as to why, he's just prideful for the hell of it, so seeing something stronger than him broke him even more.
