about project outernet and corrupt shards

incase it was skipped over, project outernet wont be continuing until ive finished season 2 of corrupt shards (expected to be about 9, maybe 10 episodes)

episode 8 is currently in production (done about ~60 frames) and im on about a 600 frame budget to avoid site crashes and not being able to upload it

should be about 2 mins long if i dont get lazy

ill also not be able to upload anything else while im doing episode 8 sorry

once all that is done i should be able to fully focus on project outernet

(also, little hint for chapter 3, the ending of season 2 CS and project outernet chapter 3 will have an important connection. not spoiling anything though. this is one of the reasons why i cant continue outernet yet)

also im planning on there being around ~10 chapters of project outernet (based on my current idea of where the story is going so its subject to change)

the ending will be unconventional and bittersweet depending on who youre hoping to succeed (white or the animators)

and one more thing, white WILL encounter dan at one point during this comic (but not in the way you might expect)

Aw man.

One last thing, its been a WHILE since I watched corrupt shards, can you remind me what the original shard in the first episode does?

upon contact with someone who can handle it, the one whos power is directly tied to the shard gains control over the victims mind and influences part of their power level (such as increasing it as they collect more shards and incorporating their own abilities into the victim)

the victim's consciousness is transferred into white's realm (which is right now an endless dark void) with most of their power and abilities stripped

whites power was directly tied to the shard of course, so upon contact, black became possessed and did everything that he did under white's will

if the victim cant handle the level of power from the shard, they just die on the spot (treat it as if they just touched something extremely high voltage)

white can also choose who the shard affects upon contact (to avoid an unwanted user being possessed), if youre unwanted but powerful enough, its treated as just a regular artifact

also, its not like a wide-spread thing people can do. the reason why white resorts to this is because of a past event that ended up in his power getting split and him being defeated, so each shard holds a bit of his power

also if someones already possessed (like black) any other holder of the shard isnt affected in any way (like orange)

orange does hold the shard as of now, however white doesnt see him as a compatible host, so hes fine despite no one currently being possessed anymore

the reason why the shard even has possessive properties is due to psychological manipulation being one of white's many abilities, which he decided to capitalize on upon his power being split into shards. if it wasnt for this, the shards would simply be a powerful artifact composed of him

someone whos also extremely strong-willed or just very mentally powerful can also negate the effects of the shard, black was just mentally vulnerable due to reasons thatll be explained in the future

Ok, so to make sure I understand this,

Someone can be controlled only if its in white's will, and the only way someone can safely touch and interact with a shard is if white deems them unworthy, doesn't wish to control them, if white already has a host, or if the person holding the shard is stronger or has a stronger mental state then white himself, and if they ARE stronger, they can freely reap the positive benefits of the shard without being taken over by white.

the shards are only fractions of whites power, also they dont have to necessarily be stronger - just close or relative to where the shards powerful and malevolent properties dont completely override them

and its about being mentally strong enough to combat the psychological manipulation, not really being stronger than white mentally.

also if you are able to combat the psychological manipulation, you can still die if your body cant physically handle the shard, so you need both to be completely safe from it

also if you do fit the mental and physical requirements, the shard doesnt do anything to you, nor can you do anything to it. its about as useful as a cool looking rock you found on the beach

if you are physically way stronger than the shards but not mentally, white will also just deem you incompatible and ignore you (its harder to strip them of their powers once theyre inside his realm if theyre stronger)

whites ideal victim is someones whos very strong - strong enough to not die from the shard, but also someone mentally weak enough to succumb to his manipulation (black was perfect for this)

Hmmm okay

so white op shard become cool spikey rock if person big strong mental brain

yep

white can also somewhat influence someone he chooses to actively look for the shard (like placing the idea into their head), very easy if theyre mentally vulnerable

I did a Corrupt Shart 😔

Can’t wait for episode 8!

I can smell Dan telling white “hey that’s not cool” and dipping

Edited by @GoofyGoober

Either that or Dan bribes white with an animator of his choosing for him to leave

The confrontation still hasn’t Been fully planned and decided yet but he’ll still have an important part to the story

"Not cool white, don't do that again."

alright update

about 40% done, i think the hardest part of the animation is now finished, itll be about 50% action 50% dialogue (trying to set up context for episode 9-10)

itll probably be out in about a week or less (actually double that time if i decided to be lazy)

OH YA IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS

another update

about 3/4ths done, expect it out in a day or two. the fact that i need to do 3 episodes + finish a comic has motivated me quite a bit lately. I wasnt lying about 2 mins but give or take about 5-10 seconds depending on what i think fits the plot and isnt just useless filler (should be close enough though)

oh btw i might make a project outernet chapter 3 leak after this episode and episode 9, the leak will probably come like a day after ep 8s release and the other a day after ep 9s release you get the point

update its out happy days
