Why I like old maps

Old maps are weirdly fascinating because they show a world that sort of existed and sort of didn’t, with mountains that might be too high, rivers that might have changed, and towns that could be gone now. Looking at them makes you imagine explorers wandering through places they had never seen, drawing lines and names on blank spaces, and you start thinking about what it felt like to travel without knowing if you’d ever get home. I like tracing the paths with my finger and imagining stories for every tiny village or forest, and even though I know the maps aren’t completely accurate, they feel alive in a way modern maps don’t, like they hold memories and adventures from people long gone.
