i've been avoiding it for 7 years i think it's about time i faced it 😍
i am never going to have a consistent coloring style but if youre having trouble picking colors you can look up color palettes on pinterest or some other engine cuz they look nice
for me i prefer when art has like a bigger range of value or how light and dark the colors are (even though i forget every time)
i like when hues shift a lot too and i get mildly angry when i see something shaded without shifting the hue at least one pixel ummmmmm
sometimes i like to make things look shiny by shifting the hue and lowering the saturation of the base color because ooh fun shiny
and if the colors in your drawing don't really click sometimes i leave a spot for the top layer so you can take a color that matches the scheme and lower the opacity and just draw over everything and it always looks somewhat nice(dont make it too strong or your line art will cry and question its existence)
idk what im saying anymore
just experiment with what works cuz your art is cool and i don't even see a problem with your coloring as it is 😭 also i lost my ability to properly explain things ages ago
how can i type that but not my two analysis statements that were due 3 days ago that i'm supposed to be writing right now ANYWAAAYSSS
personally i am blessed with being a yapper so i can breeze through essays
but i am also blessed with procrastination so i guess it doesn't matter
constitution stuff specifically how book banning is connected to the 1st amendment or whatevet
america shenanigans
Personally I use warmer colors, so instead of black I'll use dark brown n stuff, to shade as well. idk. and when I draw something yellow I like to use red as a shadow just so it looks like
Warm
(I have no clue what I'm saying
In a single drawing I like to use related colors
1. shade with the muted complementary color.
2. pick out a color scheme. if you cant pick one out, put down the colors you would want and draw little circles of each. then, choose a color you would like for the mood. change the opacity down to around 50% (higher, weaker light, such as a bunch of shadows. colors will be more muted. lower, stronger light, such as a sunrise. colors will be more vibrant and apparent.)
3. learn how color theory can effect your drawing.
4. light will bounce, even on the darkest part of your drawing. so, learn how lighting will also effect your drawing
5. use colors you've never used or never felt comfortable with. for example, if you never used green because you dont know what to do with it other than an eye color, draw shrek.
6. you dont need to stick to the art color style whatever. just make sure it stays the same on a piece. dont switch up suddenly and change it. do that on another piece.
7. learn color grouping/division. these are: primary, secondary, tertiary, warm, cool, neutral, complementary, triadic, analogous, monochromatic, etc. these can help you choose at your color scheme too.
thank you guys!! literal lifesavers
what exactly do you need help with?
I think you mean shading if you mean your drawings look flatter. Honestly, never shade with black, better to use dark, but muted (if it looks too black, then use more saturation) blue/purple. Brown is also a good option, if you want a more comfy light, and remember, ambience. Use slight shades of blues and greens, and other colors depending on the atmosphere around it. Most of the time, these are going to pop out in the shadows. I could also make an animation on coloring shading, and how I understand it moreso if you want :3 Remember, that shiny things reflect a lot of light, which means theres going to be reflections on the sides of the object, and the front. anywhere where there is no light hitting, most of the time it's going to reflect the ambience and the surface/object it's on. I would also look up sub-surface scattering, it would make your skin render more realistically :D
just color it 🤷
just do whatever you feel will fit the style and bam
