Pointless Rant IV - Why Adding Sounds Would Be Impractical
Do I have much say on whether or not this gets added? No. Will I still write a rant on this? Absolutely.
I want you to be 100% honest. How many of you would actually use sound effects?
If they were to be added, there'd only be a basic library of sounds (boing, click, ding, etc) that, while they can be used creatively, can't really be used for much other than specific items. Also, I feel quite a few people imagine this endless library of sounds when they ask for sound effects, when in reality, there'll be a list of 15-25 sounds. Not much to work with.
Second, they're impractical to insert. We animate in frames and not like it's in a video editing software where we can pick and drop where to insert sounds. We have to insert them onto frames. So how would one insert a sound here? Also, it would
make the editor a lot more compact and small and complicated.
Lastly, how many people use this site expecting to hear sound? I usually use this website on mute, so I wouldn't really ever hear the sounds. Also, the sounds can get really annoying, really flipping quick. Unless Dan adds a cap to the amount of sounds you can stack on top of each other, they can just become loud and obnoxious.
If you have any input, add your input as well.

StarryNeptuneTA is an animation site, not a full on animation software. Sure, Dan could add in his own sound effects but really, how would you use that in the editor?
It can get really annoying if people figure out a way to make it annoying, and bit ridiculous since we're most likely just going to have sound effects and not anything like voice acting or music or anything, so it's bland and has no point to it.
yeah, it will make the editor complicated, i still can't figure out tweenbot so please, don't add sound effects to make things worse.
