ok but I have enormous fatherly love for my characters

they're perfect and precious and I never want to hurt them,,,

except I'll give them a tragic backstory, make them go on a painstaking journey and watch the love of their life get swept away from them

but they will still have a happy ending to their backstory, and they will always be your wonderful children :)
