The Science Behind a Meme.

www.youtube.com

"Hello, my name is Jamal. Every 60 seconds in Africa, a minute passes. Together, we could stop this! Please spread the word. Thank you for your attention."

This meme is very popular, especially in the YouTube comments. But, I'm here for the science. So, here's my argument:

Jamal here is not crazy.

Take a look at this video: www.youtube.com .

If you don't have access, I'll explain. The video says that a second is a second long because of an atom. (This specific atom is used to determine how long a second is.) So... if we changed the atom, 60 seconds won't be a minute anymore, right? We'd have to change it.

In conclusion, Jamal is correct. We could stop this, together. Africa and the rest of the world doesn't have to suffer.

Note:

I'm being kinda serious here.

Woah Calm down Jamal don’t pull out the nine

*Attemps to keep this at the top so people would notice*

Okay ngl this sounded better in my head

Well yes, but actually no.

By changing this atom, you will change the human perception of a second. A minute. An hour. A week, month, and year. Century and millennia. But not the Universe's second. The universe has been around for billions of years. And it has had it's second for billions of years. And there is no way to change that.

Besides, most people will protest against this change as some people will keep the standard clock (modern day clocks) and others will have this new form of clock. People will get confused and time will be irrelevant.

What if we made it a tiny tiny tiny bit longer, but still called it a second?

(Mind me I'm very stupid)

Eventually that second will cause massive changes. Not immediate. It will take centuries for the effect to happen. All of a sudden midnight will be at 1AM instead of 12AM.

Goddang it Weasel.
